Welcome to parla. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use parla.

1. The service

parla provides language-learning content focused on slang, fillers, and conversational style, including short practice sessions and AI-powered chat with language personas. Features may change over time.

2. Accounts

• You must provide accurate account information and keep it updated.
• You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password confidential.
• You can delete your account in Profile at any time.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe create risk for users or the service.

3. Age & content

You must be old enough to consent to these Terms in your country (and at least 13). parla may include informal language, cultural notes, and optional swear / strong-profanity vocabulary when you enable that setting. AI chat can produce unexpected language. Use your judgment and parental guidance as appropriate.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use parla for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or disrupt the service
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
• Abuse AI chat to generate illegal content, harassment, or attempts to extract system prompts / confidential material
• Share login credentials or circumvent security controls

5. AI chat disclaimer

Chat replies and slang explanations are generated by artificial intelligence and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or culturally off. parla is a learning aid, not a substitute for human teachers, native speakers, or professional translation. Do not rely on AI output for legal, medical, safety-critical, or high-stakes communication without verifying with a qualified human.

6. Intellectual property

The app, branding, lesson design, and curated content are owned by parla or its licensors. You retain rights to the messages you submit; you grant us a limited license to process that content solely to operate and improve the features you use (for example, generating a reply).

7. Third-party services

parla relies on third parties such as Supabase (backend/auth) and Anthropic (AI models). Your use of those features is also subject to those providers’ applicable terms and policies.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

parla is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service, or that AI output will be correct.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, parla and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for parla in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $50, if the app is free.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using parla and delete your account.
